The Christian Businessmen’s Connection of Montgomery County started meeting in June 2009 as a workplace ministry small group for mutual encouragement, support, and discipleship training based on the Christian Business Mens Connection (CBMC).  We are also developing a strategy to create outreach events to reach unchurched men in the workplace.  Our group includes men from different church backgrounds and economic strata who are called to represent Christ and His kingdom in the workplace.  We meet every Tuesday, 6:45 – 8:00 AM in the Community Room in the back of the Einstein Bagel on Firstfield Road & Quince Orchard Blvd in Gaithersburg.  For more information or any questions please visit:  http://mccmm.org/cbmc/ or email paul@mccmm.org

On Tuesday, June 15, our group is hosting a presentation (at Einstein Bagel) by nationally-known management expert Malcolm O. Munro on “Jesus, Manager Extraordinaire“.  Malcolm will provide examples of simple principles Jesus used to motivate and engage His followers to work well beyond their capacity to get His work done.  Participants will leave with strategies to use these same principles in your organization.

A Gallup poll of more 1 million employed U.S. workers concluded that a bad boss or supervisor is the Number 1 Reason people quit their jobs.  “People leave managers not companies…in the end, turnover is mostly a manager issue,”  Gallup found that…poorly managed work groups are on average 50% less productive and 44% less profitable than well-managed groups.

Ironically, Jesus Christ took twelve ordinary men from a variety of backgrounds and in just three years completely changed the world.  He did it through a methodical process of mentoring, training, and coaching and had minimal turnover in His organization!  Jesus was more than a leader – he was an extraordinary manager

Speaker background:  Malcolm O. Munro (The Management Foundry; The People Skills Blog):is the author of “The New Rules of Engagement: How To Keep Your Superstars Loyal to You”, “12 Simple (but not simplistic) Principles Every Manager Needs to Know”, and five other business and management books.  He trains, coaches, and develops managers for organizations across the country and his clients include Pratt & Whitney, Pitney Bowes, Bio-Rad Technologies, and most of the Federal Government agencies including the Department of Defense.
