Delegation with Empowerment – Do you disperse power or do you hoard it? More is accomplished when power is dispersed.
In the world, Leaders exert Power over Followers and the Followers serve the Leaders.
Jesus taught Leaders are to serve the Followers then the Followers will Empower the Leaders.
Leaders cast vision, and as Followers align their energies behind the vision and develop good goals, peak performance results. (Good goals are goals people participate in developing; bad goals are goals passed down from on high that they are not in tune with!)
Matthew 28:18-20 is a case study for empowerment. And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Jesus let them know He had the authority to delegate the assignment and would empower them. He commissioned them to use the power for specific purposes which He clearly defined. He had trained them and assured them He would back them up. The disciples had the assurance their leader delegated with the needed empowerment to complete the mission.
When you delegate, do you empower by giving the authority, training, and backup needed? Delegation without empowerment is dumping!
