Forums Focus A weekly blog to enlighten, encourage and equip Christian business leaders to lead in business using Biblical Business Principles.

Biblical Business Principles – Last week we looked at Learning Organizations. Is your organization a learning organization? What can you do to improve learning?

This week we will examine Spirit led leadership. How are you doing at walking in the Holy Spirit in your daily business life?

We can and should study leadership principles and precepts, but we Christians have a 24/7 Counselor, who is the best consultant and mentor anyone can ever have.

Do not quench the Spirit. 1 Thessalonians 5:19 ESV When we’re not listening to the Holy Spirit, we’re likely to be quenching Him. To hear the Holy Spirit we must be walking in harmony with God, feeding our souls daily with God’s Word, listening for His promptings.

A good test is our testimony. Is the After (Before, How, After per Acts 26) in your testimony fresh with God’s current activity, or is your After all in the past? Since you spend most of your awake hours at work, is your testimony alive with God’s activity in your work in the past 30 days? Oswald Chambers states, “Beware of trying to patch up a present refusal to walk in the light by recalling past experiences when you did walk in the light.” What activities of God have you experienced in the past 30 days in your business?

When the Holy Spirit checks, be quick to respond. But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do. Galatians 5:16-17 ESV Can you recount a time at work in the past 30 days when you were checked by the Holy Spirit?

When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. He will glorify me, for he will take what is mine and declare it to you. All that the Father has is mine; therefore I said that he will take what is mine and declare it to you. John 16:13-15 ESV What a promise, the Spirit will guide us into truth, give us future insights, and empower us to glorify Jesus in our business life. What is the Holy Spirit revealing to you in your business? How are you responding?

Bit of Wisdom

Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 ESV
