Forums Focus: A weekly blog to enlighten, encourage and equip Christian business leaders to lead in business using Biblical Business Principles.

Biblical Business Principles – Last week we looked at the sixth Beatitude and how a pure heart enables us to see God in business. Are you seeing God in your day-to-day business life?

This week we will examine the seventh Beatitude from a business perspective. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God. Matthew 5:9 ESV Are you a peacemaker when the world of business your in is not peaceful?

What is peace? The Merriam-Webster Dictionary definitions include: a state of tranquility or quiet; freedom from disquieting or oppressive thoughts or emotions; harmony in personal relations; a state or period of mutual concord between governments.

There is another peace that goes beyond all of this – spiritual peace. Peace is a fruit of the Holy Spirit resulting in the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding. (See Philippians 4:7) The bumper sticker No God No Peace: Know God Know Peace is prescriptive. Are you experiencing God’s peace in your business life?

Jesus taught I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world. John 16:33 ESV Jesus provides real peace. We experience His peace, then pass it on as we put on the full armor of God which includes shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. (See Ephesians 6:10-20) Are you sharing the Gospel of peace in your peacemaking?

What is a peacemaker? Someone who makes peace – brings peace into a chaotic situation. Defusing a chaotic situation is good, helping the warring parties make peace is better, bringing the Gospel of peace to the participants is best. Then you will be recognized as an ambassador, one of God’s children, which is the promise of this Beatitude. Do you have a current situation where you can be a peacemaker?

Bit of Wisdom
For God is not a God of confusion but of peace. 1 Corinthians 14:33a ESV
