Forums Focus: A weekly blog to enlighten, encourage and equip Christian business leaders to lead in business using Biblical Business Principles.

Biblical Business Principles – Last week we looked at the fifth Beatitude and how it relates to business with respect to mercy. How are you doing at balancing mercy with righteousness in your business?

This week we will examine the sixth Beatitude from a business perspective. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. Matthew 5:8 ESV
How pure is your heart in business matters? What would others say? What does God say?

The Bible refers to the heart as the center of our internal being, including our emotions, intellect and will. Above all else, guard your heart, for it affects everything you do. Proverbs 4:23 NLT How do you guard your heart throughout your business day?

Jesus taught – A good person produces good deeds from a good heart, and an evil person produces evil deeds from an evil heart. Whatever is in your heart determines what you say. Luke 6:45 NLT Thoughts oft repeated become words, words oft repeated become deeds, deeds oft repeated become habits, and habits become our destiny! The power of positive thinking begins with a pure heart!

Then Peter asked Jesus, “Explain what you meant when you said people aren’t defiled by what they eat.” “Don’t you understand?” Jesus asked him. “Anything you eat passes through the stomach and then goes out of the body. But evil words come from an evil heart and defile the person who says them. For from the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, all other sexual immorality, theft, lying, and slander. Matthew 15:15-19 NLT We can check our pureness of heart by our words. How pure are your words at work when the bottom falls out and the pressure is way above normal?

Wherever your treasure is, there your heart and thoughts will also be. Matthew 6:21 NLT Where is your treasure? Jesus said it really matters.

And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength. Mark 12:30 NLT

Salvation that comes from trusting Christ — which is the message we preach — is already within easy reach. In fact, the Scriptures say, “The message is close at hand; it is on your lips and in your heart.” For if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by confessing with your mouth that you are saved. As the Scriptures tell us, “Anyone who believes in him will not be disappointed. ” Romans 10:8-11 NLT This is Good News!

It is by our actions that we know we are living in the truth, so we will be confident when we stand before the Lord, even if our hearts condemn us. For God is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything. Dear friends, if our conscience is clear, we can come to God with bold confidence. And we will receive whatever we request because we obey him and do the things that please him. And this is his commandment: We must believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and love one another, just as he commanded us. Those who obey God’s commandments live in fellowship with him, and he with them. And we know he lives in us because the Holy Spirit lives in us. 1 John 3:19-24 NLT Is your heart in alignment with Jesus who is the way, truth, and life?

Do your employees, managers, customers, vendors, and others see the results of Christ in you as you interact with them in business?
Finally, the promise of this Beatitude is that we will see God! (Realizing that John 1:18 NKJV declares – No one has seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him.) Is the amount we see God in proportion to the pureness of our hearts? Are you seeing God’s presence in your business life?

Bit of Wisdom
No, a true Jew is one whose heart is right with God. And true circumcision is not a cutting of the body but a change of heart produced by God’s Spirit. Whoever has that kind of change seeks praise from God, not from people. Romans 2:29 NLT
