Forums Focus: A weekly blog to enlighten, encourage and equip Christian business leaders to lead in business using Biblical Business Principles.

Biblical Business Principles – Last week we looked at the last Beatitude, persecution because you’re a Christian. Have you been mocked, lied about, or made fun of in business because you follow Jesus?

This week we will focus on giving thanks. As you pause in your business week to celebrate Thanksgiving, remember to Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 ESV

What does a thankful heart produce? People with thankful hearts don’t need to steal, don’t crave for more when their thankful for what they have; don’t covet their neighbor’s spouse when thankful for theirs. Thankful hearts eliminate pride and arrogance. When thankful for who you are in Christ and what God has done in your life, you don’t need to compare yourself to others, or judge others, or protect your image.

When you’re thankful you’ve been invited to the dinner, you won’t care if you’re not at the head table. When you’re thankful God has lightened your load, you won’t put heavy weights on others. When you’re thankful God is thinking about you all the time, you don’t need to be obsessed with what others think about you. When you’re thankful for your position, you don’t need to demand respect because of it or crawl over people to go higher. When you’re thankful your sins are forgiven, you don’t need to hide them. When you’re thankful the grace of God has allowed you to see, you don’t have to condemn others blindness. When you’re thankful that God has filled you with His Holy Spirit, you don’t need to be full of yourself.

The downward spiral in Romans 1 begins with a lack of thanksgiving. For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things. Romans 1:21-23 ESV

How thankful are you? (For God, Family, Vocation, Ministry?)

Praying you have a thankful Thanksgiving!

Bit of Wisdom
Let your reasonableness be known to everyone. The Lord is at hand; do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:5-7 ESV
