Forums Focus: A weekly blog to enlighten, encourage and equip Christian business leaders to lead in business using Biblical Business Principles.

Biblical Business Principles – The last time we focused on our networks. Are you impacting people in your professional network with Biblical Business Principles?

This week we will focus on the Christmas Story from a business perspective. Perfection was born 2000 years ago in the midst of imperfect circumstances. (Unexplainable pregnancy, government forced travel during pregnancy, no vacancies at the hotels, etc.)

The religious missed what God was doing because it didn’t fit their preconceived notions. Do you sometimes miss God at work in your business because it doesn’t fit your thinking?

Herod didn’t miss it. He took it as a threat to his power and tried to stop it. When you encounter a threat to your authority, do you try to eliminate it?

The Shepherds didn’t miss what God was doing. The Shepherds were simply at work and got scared by an angel, the radiance of God’s glory, and a host of angels praising God. (See Luke 2:8-14) After seeing Perfection in the manager the Shepherds went back to work The shepherds went back to their fields and flocks, glorifying and praising God for what the angels had told them, and because they had seen the child, just as the angel had said. Luke 2:20 NLT Do you go to work glorifying and praising God because you’ve seen and follow Jesus, The Perfection?

The Wise Men didn’t miss it either. While the Shepherds saw the miraculous (sight), the Wise Men only had a star to follow. While most people didn’t even see the star, they traveled many miles by faith. Read the story in Matthew 2:1-12. Initially they only knew there was a newborn King of the Jews. When they saw the star, they were filled with joy! They entered the house where the child and his mother, Mary, were, and they fell down before him and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasure chests and gave him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Matthew 2:10-11 NLT Following the Lord is more by faith than sight. So we are always of good courage. We know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, for we walk by faith, not by sight. 2 Corinthians 5:6-7 ESV How is your faith walk at work? At home? In the community? At church?

Herod tried to use them to find the child But when it was time to leave, they went home another way, because God had warned them in a dream not to return to Herod. Matthew 2:12 NLT Do you have your antenna positioned to hear God’s warnings?

As you celebrate Christmas what do you need to do so you won’t miss Perfection in the midst of imperfection? As you enter 2012, how will you keep your religion and / or preconceived notions from causing you to miss what God is doing in your midst?

Praying for you a Meaningful Christmas and a Fruitful New Year.

Bit of Wisdom
Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before God made anything at all and is supreme over all creation. Christ is the one through whom God created everything in heaven and earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see — kings, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities. Everything has been created through him and for him. He existed before everything else began, and he holds all creation together. Colossians 1:15-17 NLT
