Forums Focus: A weekly blog to enlighten, encourage and equip Christian business leaders to lead in business using Biblical Business Principles.

Biblical Business Principles – Last week we focused on Wise Counsel. Is the counsel you receive in line with Biblical Business Principles?

This week we will focus on Counsel: Principles from Proverbs. Let those who are wise listen to these proverbs and become even wiser. And let those who understand receive guidance by exploring the depth of meaning in these proverbs, parables, wise sayings, and riddles. Proverbs 1:5-6 NLT Do you read the Proverbs chapter of the day each day? (On the 29th read chapter 29.)

Fools think they need no advice, but the wise listen to others. Proverbs 12:15 NLT Have you noticed your way usually seems right until you get input from others?

Pride leads to arguments; those who take advice are wise. Proverbs 13:10 NLT When we argue justifying our plans, we will often shut off wise counsel. Why does our pride cause us to justify our conceived plans? Why does it take Christlike humility to really listen to others?

Plans go wrong for lack of advice; many counselors bring success. Proverbs 15:22 NLT Do you have multiple counselors?

Plans succeed through good counsel; don’t go to war without the advice of others. Proverbs 20:18 NLT Do you take the time to run your plans by your counselors?

So don’t go to war without wise guidance; victory depends on having many counselors. Proverbs 24:6 NLT Does business sometimes seem like a war?

Get all the advice and instruction you can, and be wise the rest of your life. Proverbs 19:20 NLT

The heartfelt counsel of a friend is as sweet as perfume and incense. Proverbs 27:9 NLT If you are married, do you get counsel from the one who is to be your best friend – your spouse? While your spouse might not know all the details of your business, he or she knows you. Other Christian friends who don’t know anything about your business can also be wise counselors. Do you seek counsel from Christian friends?

While this Forums Focus is focusing on human counsel, remember You can make many plans, but the LORD’s purpose will prevail. Proverbs 19:21 NLT

BBB and Forums Groups provide opportunities for getting and giving counsel. For more information see below.
