Forums Focus: A weekly blog to enlighten, encourage and equip Christian business leaders to lead in business using Biblical Business Principles.

Biblical Business Principles – Last week we focused on Characteristics.  Which characteristic describes you?  Variety and Order or Conformity and Disorder?   Are you more God like or Man like?

This week we will focus on Stories: 2 Sides.  Have you heard the old expression; there are two sides to every story?

Any story sounds true until someone sets the record straight. Proverbs 18:17 NLT  How does this apply to your business?

I once worked for an owner who, we on the management team said, operated on the premise that the first in his office door was right.  He would jump on the first story, and it then took extra effort to get him to switch to the other side, even when it was correct.  Pride can make it hard to switch our positions, especially after we publically stated them.  Do you tend to accept the first story?  (It often sounds true as Proverbs 18:17 teaches.)

What a shame, what folly, to give advice before listening to the facts! Proverbs 18:13 NLT  Many times we have to make decisions based on information provided us, and not on first hand observations – we weren’t there!  Do you make it a practice to think, what is the other side of this story?

Intelligent people are always open to new ideas. In fact, they look for them. Proverbs 18:15 NLT  Are you passive, assertive, or aggressive in looking for new ideas?

How can we know which story is right?  Words satisfy the soul as food satisfies the stomach; the right words on a person’s lips bring satisfaction. Proverbs 18:20 NLT   The ultimate word is God’s Word which brings satisfaction to the souls of people.  Study this Book of the Law continually. Meditate on it day and night so you may be sure to obey all that is written in it. Only then will you succeed. Joshua 1:8 NLT  After you listen to both sides of a story, do you apply Biblical Business Principles?

Bit of Wisdom

All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It straightens us out and teaches us to do what is right.  It is God’s way of preparing us in every way, fully equipped for every good thing God wants us to do. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 NLT
