Forums Focus: A weekly blog to enlighten, encourage and equip Christian business leaders to lead in business using Biblical Business Principles.

Biblical Business Principles – Last week we focused on Biblical Standards for Business (Love). Are you passing on agape love to people through your business?

Over the next few weeks we will look at the resources God provides. This week we will focus on Relying on God’s Resources (His Spirit). How much do you rely on God once you get into your work day?

Don’t you realize that all of you together are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God lives in you? 1 Corinthians 3:16 NLT What do you do Monday through Friday to continuously remind yourself that God’s Spirit lives in you?

And God has actually given us his Spirit (not the world’s spirit) so we can know the wonderful things God has freely given us. 1 Corinthians 2:12 NLT God’s Spirit in us lets us know what is of God. Have you experienced the Spirit revealing God’s activity in your business this week?

Our role is to walk in the Spirit. So I advise you to live according to your new life in the Holy Spirit. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves. The old sinful nature loves to do evil, which is just opposite from what the Holy Spirit wants. And the Spirit gives us desires that are opposite from what the sinful nature desires. These two forces are constantly fighting each other, and your choices are never free from this conflict. Galatians 5:16-17 NLT Do you sense the daily conflict in your business life?

The result of walking in the Spirit is: – But when the Holy Spirit controls our lives, he will produce this kind of fruit in us: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Here there is no conflict with the law. Galatians 5:22-23 NLT When we question if our reaction to a situation is from God (or from the world, or the flesh, or the devil), see if the nine fruit are present. Have you memorized these verses?

But when the Father sends the Counselor as my representative — and by the Counselor I mean the Holy Spirit — he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I myself have told you. “I am leaving you with a gift — peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give isn’t like the peace the world gives. So don’t be troubled or afraid. John 14:26-27 NLT What a resource God has given us, God’s Spirit as a business consultant! Are you investing time with the Counselor? Do you discuss your business problems and pressures with Him? Do you discuss with Him your business successes? Should you schedule regular appointments?

Bit of Wisdom
That is what the Scriptures mean when they say, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.” But we know these things because God has revealed them to us by his Spirit and his Spirit searches out everything and shows us even God’s deep secrets. No one can know what anyone else is really thinking except that person alone, and no one can know God’s thoughts except God’s own Spirit.1 Corinthians 2:9-11 NLT
