Forums Focus: A weekly blog to enlighten, encourage and equip Christian business leaders to lead in business using Biblical Business Principles.

Biblical Business Principles – Last week we focused on Relying on God’s Resources (His Help in Temptation). Do you regularly rely on God’s provision for help in temptation in business?

This week we will focus on Relying on God’s Resources (His Wisdom).

How do you define wisdom? What is the difference between knowledge and wisdom? An interesting model is Data > Information > Knowledge > Wisdom. Today we are inundated with data. When we examine the data it becomes information. As we study information it becomes knowledge. Knowledge applied is wisdom. Wisdom is knowledge applied.

Fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom. Knowledge of the Holy One results in understanding. Wisdom will multiply your days and add years to your life. If you become wise, you will be the one to benefit. If you scorn wisdom, you will be the one to suffer. Proverbs 9:10-12 NLT Why does the Bible say the fear of the Lord is the first step in getting wisdom?

If you need wisdom — if you want to know what God wants you to do — ask him, and he will gladly tell you. He will not resent your asking. But when you ask him, be sure that you really expect him to answer, for a doubtful mind is as unsettled as a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. James 1:5-6 NLT Believing prayer is key to acquiring God’s resource of wisdom. Have you a recent experience of answered prayer in your business where God gave you His wisdom?

The purpose of these proverbs is to teach people wisdom and discipline, and to help them understand wise sayings. Proverbs 1:2 NLT Do you want to gain more wisdom? Read the Proverbs chapter for the date. On the 2nd, read Proverbs chapter 2, on the 3rd read chapter 3, etc. The Bible is the Manufacturer’s Handbook. Have you had a recent experience of getting the answer to a business problem as you read the Bible?

So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves. Galatians 5:16 NLT The Holy Spirit is our helper to help us apply God’s wisdom in business. Have you recently experienced the Spirit’s leading in business? .

But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and good deeds. It shows no partiality and is always sincere. James 3:17 NLT Any wisdom you have that is not pure, peaceable, gentle and easy to be entreated (KJV) needs to be examined as to its source.

Are you a wise person in your business life? What do others say? What are you doing to increase your wisdom?

Bit of Wisdom
Out of the stump of David’s family will grow a shoot — yes, a new Branch bearing fruit from the old root. And the Spirit of the LORD will rest on him — the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the LORD .Isaiah 11:1-2 NLT
