CBMC Forums Focus: A weekly blog  to enlighten, encourage and equip Christian business leaders to lead in business using Biblical Business Principles.

Biblical Business Principles – Last week we focused on a New Year Challenge.  Have you receive a God-word for 2014?

This week we will focus on Business Excellence.  We know excellence when we see it, yet it is a quality that can be hard to define.  What does excellence look like in your business?

Dictionary.com defines excellence as: 1. the fact or state of excelling; superiority; eminence.  2.

an excellent quality or feature.  Merriam-Webster: 1. the quality of being excellent. 2. an excellent or valuable quality.  Do these definitions help you understand excellence?  We do know excellence is not sloppy habits or mediocre routines.

It is easy to expect and demand excellence from those we lead.  Where do those we lead get the inspiration to be and perform with excellence?  A lone craftsman is responsible for his or her own diligence in producing a product or service with excellence.  But, leaders must produce excellence through others.  To do this, leaders must lead with excellence.

Asaph in referring to David’s leadership indicates He cared for them with a true heart and led them with skillful hands. Psalm 78:72 NLT  Excellence in leadership begins with caring from a true heart.  Are you leading with a caring true heart?  Are you leading with skillful hands?  Principle: Caring hearts guide skillful hands.  Leaders who desire excellence in business must first examine, and adjust as necessary, their hearts, then focus on developing skill.

Is there a need for more excellence in your business?

Bit of Wisdom

Work hard and cheerfully at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Colossians 3:23 NLT
