CBMC Forums Focus: A weekly blog to enlighten, encourage and equip Christian business leaders to lead in business using Biblical Business Principles.

Biblical Business Principles – Last time we focused on Planning. Do you invest time for business planning or are you more reactionary?

This week we will continue focusing on Planning. Why plan? (It often seems like it never works out as you planned anyway.) In response to this question one manager responded, “If you don’t have a plan, you can’t change it!” After the laughter died down he explained how he had learned his plan gave him a baseline reference point and reduced the chaos. He was responsible for taking customers’ service requests and dispatching 25 servicemen, a job that was very reactionary. How much planning do you do in your business?

Wise planning will watch over you. Understanding will keep you safe. Proverbs 2:11 NLT

Long range planning includes setting goals, anticipating opportunities and obstacles, and designing today’s strategies on tomorrow’s desired outcomes. It starts with values, vision and needs, culminating in action plans that will result in desired outcomes.

My child, don’t lose sight of good planning and insight. Hang on to them, for they fill you with life and bring you honor and respect. They keep you safe on your way and keep your feet from stumbling. You can lie down without fear and enjoy pleasant dreams. You need not be afraid of disaster or the destruction that comes upon the wicked, for the LORD is your security. He will keep your foot from being caught in a trap. Proverbs 3:21-26 NLT What does this passage say to you?

Do your business plans factor in our Lord’s Great Commission? How is God using your company to expand His Kingdom?

Bit of Wisdom
Good planning and hard work lead to prosperity, but hasty shortcuts lead to poverty. Proverbs 21:5 NLT
