CBMC Forums Focus: A weekly blog to enlighten, encourage and equip Christian business leaders to lead in business using Biblical Business Principles.
Biblical Business Principles – Last week we focused on Owners or Stewards. Since God owns it all, and we are stewards, are you being a faithful steward?
This week we will focus on Glorifying God. How do you glorify God through your business?
All who claim me as their God will come, for I have made them for my glory. It was I who created them. Isaiah 43:7 NLT Why does God instruct us to glorify Himself? Do you ask people to glorify you? (Maybe sometimes we feel hurt when we don’t receive glory?!?)
Thought: Since God is above all, Creator of all, His asking us to glorify Him is not because He needs it; it’s because we need it! I am the LORD; that is my name! I will not give my glory to anyone else. I will not share my praise with carved idols. Isaiah 42:8 NLT
Whatever you eat or drink or whatever you do, you must do all for the glory of God. 1 Corinthians 10:31 NLT Make a list of the ways you are glorifying God through your business. Then make a list of how you might add to your glorifying God in the future through your business. Keep the list with your quiet time materials, review it and add to it for a week or so. Ask God for His input!
Bit of Wisdom
When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not be presenting his own ideas; he will be telling you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future. He will bring me glory by revealing to you whatever he receives from me. John 16:13-14 NLT
A book, Jesus In The 9 to 5 – Facing The Challenges of Today’s Business World by Dennis E. Hensley, addresses what it might look like if Jesus ran a company in 2014.
