Biblical Business Principle
Last week we focused on Receiving Rebukes. How do you respond when receiving rebukes?
This week we will focus on Giving Rebukes. How do you rebuke others?
When people need correcting ask yourself: What is my standard by which I believe he or she needs corrected? Is it Biblical? Am I responding out of purely self-interest? Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others. Philippians2:3-4 NKJ
A single rebuke does more for a person of understanding than a hundred lashes on the back of a fool. Proverbs 17:10 NLT A single, soft rebuke will be received by a person of understanding. Does how a rebuke is received reveal the person’s desire to learn and do excellence?
My dear brothers and sisters, be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. Your anger can never make things right in God’s sight. James 1:19-20 NLT If you are angry, spend some time with God, then rebuke the person.
A fool gives full vent to anger, but a wise person quietly holds it back. Proverbs 29:11 NLT Does your anger sometimes get the most of you in your business day? Is barking out a rebuke like trying to correct a wrong with a wrong?
It is better to be criticized by a wise person than to be praised by a fool! Ecclesiastes 7:5 NLT Do people see you as a wise person? Where do you get your wisdom?
An open rebuke is better than hidden love! Proverbs 27:5 NLT Do you love the people you work with? Do they know it?
Bit of Wisdom
Mockers don’t love those who rebuke them, so they stay away from the wise. Proverbs 15:12 NLT
