CBMC Forums Focus: A weekly blog to enlighten, encourage and equip Christian business leaders to lead in business using Biblical Business Principles.

Biblical Business Principle
Last week we focused on Which Master. Which do you treasure most, God or money?

This week we will focus on Debt Bondage. Having God as our Master instead of money can help us avoid the bondage of debt. Are you in bondage because of debt?

Just as the rich rule the poor, so the borrower is servant to the lender. Proverbs 22:7 NLT The lender has a vested interest in the borrower, therefore the greater the debt, the more the lender must exert control. A businessman, who was a new Christian, exclaimed to me after he discovered Proverbs 22:7, “I’m not running this company, the bank is! They tell me when to meet and what to bring to the meeting. The Bible is true!” (We were doing Operation Timothy and I was glad he was concluding the Bible is true.) Is your debt to the level where it is becoming a bondage? How you define bondage?

Debt is not a “Thou shalt not”, but the Bible does give us warnings about debt. Over the next few weeks, we’ll explore some of the warnings.

Bit of Wisdom
So be careful how you live, not as fools but as those who are wise. Make the most of every opportunity for doing good in these evil days. Don’t act thoughtlessly, but try to understand what the Lord wants you to do. Ephesians 5:15-17 NLT
