CBMC Forums Focus: A weekly blog to enlighten, encourage and equip Christian business leaders to lead in business using Biblical Business Principles.
Biblical Business Principle
Last week we focused on a Biblical Perspective on Lending. Are your lending practices pleasing to the Lord?
This week we will focus on Branding. Have you invested time in your company’s branding?
Branding traces back to ranchers making a mark on their cattle. Today branding still refers to making a mark. It might include a brand name, a logo, a company slogan, a particular model, etc. What is your company known for? What would you like your company to be known for?
Jesus taught – In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father. Matthew 5:16 NLT Branding for Christian businesses should reflect what people can actually see, not what a spin doctor spun! However, branding can also be like a goal that encourages people to go beyond the minimum.
Jesus also said – You are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its flavor? Can you make it useful again? It will be thrown out and trampled underfoot as worthless. You are the light of the world — like a city on a mountain, glowing in the night for all to see. Don’t hide your light under a basket! Instead, put it on a stand and let it shine for all.” Matthew 5:13-15 NLT Branding should include how your company is salt and light. Salt provides flavor and light helps people see. And, as this passage states, a biblically aligned branding should be put on a stand for all to see.
Does your branding achieve the ultimate goal – so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father?
Bit of Wisdom
Those who live only to satisfy their own sinful desires will harvest the consequences of decay and death. But those who live to please the Spirit will harvest everlasting life from the Spirit. So don’t get tired of doing what is good. Don’t get discouraged and give up, for we will reap a harvest of blessing at the appropriate time. Galatians 6:8-9 NLT
