Biblical Business Principle
Last week we focused on Working With Purpose. Do you see a higher purpose in your work? Does it bring glory to God?
This week we will focus on Working With Purpose – True Owner. Do your recognize God as the true owner of your company?
(A psalm of David.) The earth is the LORD’s, and everything in it. The world and all its people belong to him. For he laid the earth’s foundation on the seas and built it on the ocean depths. Psalm 24:1-2 NLT Do you truly recognize that God owns it all? How do you keep this truth at the forefront in your work day?
For all the animals of the forest are mine, and I own the cattle on a thousand hills. I know every bird on the mountains, and all the animals of the field are mine. If I were hungry, I would not tell you, for all the world is mine and everything in it. Psalm 50:10-12 NLT It’s good to remember God owns the cattle on a thousand hills, AND He owns the real-estate the cows are standing on.
Yours, O LORD, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty. Everything in the heavens and on earth is yours, O LORD, and this is your kingdom. We adore you as the one who is over all things. Riches and honor come from you alone, for you rule over everything. Power and might are in your hand, and it is at your discretion that people are made great and given strength. “O our God, we thank you and praise your glorious name! 1 Chronicles 29:11-13 NLT Since God owns your company and rules over everything, what is your role?
A steward manages a possession of another. Since God owns your company, you are a steward of the business. Now, a person who is put in charge as a manager must be faithful. 1 Corinthians 4:2 NLT Are you a faithful steward (manager) of God’s business?
What difference can it make seeing yourself as a steward of God’s business instead of the owner?
Some reading this are not owners. Even in a secular corporation, we can recognize that God owns it, because He owns it all. Will digesting this truth alter the way you function?
Bit of Wisdom
For everything comes from him; everything exists by his power and is intended for his glory. To him be glory evermore. Amen. Romans 11:36 NLT
