CBMC Forums Focus: A weekly blog to enlighten, encourage and equip Christian business leaders to lead in business using Biblical Business Principles.
Biblical Business Principle
Last week we focused on Profitable Profit. Do the profits you make help or hurt people?
The focus of Forums Focus is normally Biblical Business Principles, however this week we will shift the focus to personal peace. If Jesus is the Prince of Peace, why is the world in turmoil? Why is business often more like war than peace?
Did your stress level decreased as you took a Christmas break? Or, do you find yourself needing to stay busy, even during the Christmas break? If so, might you be addicted to stress? Busyness can be a way of distracting ourselves from not being inwardly satisfied. Jesus said – “I am leaving you with a gift — peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give isn’t like the peace the world gives. So don’t be troubled or afraid.” John 14:27 NLT Are you experiencing this peace, peace that is not the absence of conflict, but peace in the midst of conflict?
If your sinful nature controls your mind, there is death. But if the Holy Spirit controls your mind, there is life and peace. Romans 8:6 NLT The key to peace is our mind. Which nature is controlling your mind? As Paul wrote later in Romans – Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will know what God wants you to do, and you will know how good and pleasing and perfect his will really is. Romans 12:2 NLT
As you enter a new year, reflecting on the past year, consider which nature has dominant control of your mind, your old nature or your new nature. If it has been awhile since you’ve read Romans, invest some time to read it before January 1st. Jesus, The Prince of Peace, has brought peace to this world – it’s internal personal peace.
Happy Peaceful New year!
Bit of Wisdom
And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are all called to live in peace. And always be thankful. 16 Let the words of Christ, in all their richness, live in your hearts and make you wise. Use his words to teach and counsel each other. Sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts. Colossians 3:16-17 NLT
