CBMC Forums Focus: A weekly blog to enlighten, encourage and equip Christian business leaders to lead in business using Biblical Business Principles.

Biblical Business Principle

Last week we focused on the Lord’s Prayer: Father in Heaven.  When you face business and personal situations, do you talk them over with your Heavenly Father?

This week we will focus on the Lord’s Prayer: Hallowed be Thy Name.  As you begin praying about a situation do you start by hallowing the Father, Son and Holy Spirit?

What does it mean to hallow?  A simple definition is: honor as holy.  As you begin talking your situation over with your Father in Heaven, focusing on His holiness helps put situations in perspective; and reminds us He is all knowing, ever present, and all powerful.

“The truth is, anyone who believes in me will do the same works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father. You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, because the work of the Son brings glory to the Father. Yes, ask anything in my name, and I will do it!”  “If you love me, obey my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor, who will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world at large cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you do, because he lives with you now and later will be in you. John 14:12-17 NLT  As you ask in prayer with the perspective of hallowing your Heavenly Father and glorifying the Father, Son and Holy Spirit, will you will be aligned with God’s will?

So far we’ve cover from the traditional Lord’s Prayer (from the Anglican Book of Common Prayer, 1662) –

Our Father, which art in heaven. Hallowed be Thy Name.

Next week we’ll cover –

Thy Kingdom come.

In the future we’ll cover –

Thy will be done in earth,  As it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, As we forgive them that trespass against us.  And lead us not into temptation,  But deliver us from evil.  For thine is the kingdom,

The power, and the glory,

For ever and ever.

Amen.

Bit of Wisdom

For the Scriptures say, “‘As surely as I live,’ says the Lord, ‘every knee will bow to me and every tongue will confess allegiance to God.'” Romans 14:11 NLT
