CBMC Forums Focus: A weekly blog to enlighten, encourage and equip Christian business leaders to lead in business using Biblical Business Principles.

Biblical Business Principle

Last week we focused on the Lord’s Prayer: Hallowed Be Thy Name.  As you pray about business and personal situations, do you hallow God’s name in the beginning of your prayer?

This week we will focus on the Lord’s Prayer: Thy Kingdom Come.  As you pray about situations do you ask for God’s Kingdom to come?

Jesus said – Why be like the pagans who are so deeply concerned about these things? Your heavenly Father already knows all your needs, and he will give you all you need from day to day if you live for him and make the Kingdom of God your primary concern.” Matthew 6:32-33 NLT  What might be included in praying Thy Kingdom come?  For His Kingdom to be enhanced in your situation?  For you to keep His Kingdom higher than your desires in this situation?  For you to see how this situation fits into His Kingdom?

Asking for God’s Kingdom to come means we’re acknowledging His ways and order. So in a sense we’re asking that God’s ways happen here in this situation.  Praying Thy Kingdom come can also refer to what we call the end times – Then the seventh angel blew his trumpet, and there were loud voices shouting in heaven: “The whole world has now become the Kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ, and he will reign forever and ever. Revelation 11:15 NLT

And Thy Kingdom come is a prayer for us to share the Good News with people in our sphere of influence and beyond – And the Good News about the Kingdom will be preached throughout the whole world, so that all nations will hear it; and then, finally, the end will come. Matthew 24:14 NLT

As you pray Thy Kingdom come, ask the Holy Spirit to reveal His meaning for you in your situation.

Finally, don’t miss the Kingdom of God.  One day the Pharisees asked Jesus, “When will the Kingdom of God come?” Jesus replied, “The Kingdom of God isn’t ushered in with visible signs. You won’t be able to say, ‘Here it is!’ or ‘It’s over there!’ For the Kingdom of God is among you.” Luke 17:20-21 NLT

As you pray Thy Kingdom come are you listening for God’s role for you in bringing His Kingdom into your situation?

So far we’ve cover from the traditional Lord’s Prayer (from the Anglican Book of Common Prayer, 1662) –

Our Father, which art in heaven. Hallowed be Thy Name.

Next week we’ll cover –

Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

In the future we’ll cover – Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, As we forgive them that trespass against us.  And lead us not into temptation,  But deliver us from evil.  For thine is the kingdom,

The power, and the glory,

For ever and ever.

Amen.

Bit of Wisdom

For your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom. You rule generation after generation. The LORD is faithful in all he says; he is gracious in all he does. Psalm 145:13 NLT
