CBMC Forums Focus: A weekly blog to enlighten, encourage and equip Christian business leaders to lead in business using Biblical Business Principles.

Biblical Business Principle

Last week we focused on the Lord’s Prayer: Thy Kingdom Come.  As you pray about business and personal situations, do you pray for God’s Kingdom to come in the situation?

This week we will focus on the Lord’s Prayer: Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.  As you pray about situations do you ask for God’s will to be done in each situation?

When we’re praying about something, we usually have a desire and know what we want – a will about it.  This portion of the Lord’s Prayer reminds us to keep God’s will above our will.  Jesus prayed – “Abba, Father,” he said, “Everything is possible for you. Please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will, not mine.” Mark 14:36 NLT  When you really want something, or relief in a situation, do you add “Not my will, but Thy will be done” to your prayer?  Sometimes this will require real surrender.  It did for Jesus’ in His situation!

Are you pouring your heart out to God as you’re praying about a current business or personal situation?  Are you adding – nevertheless, not my will but Thy will be done.  Or perhaps all is going well for you.  Are you praying for God’s will to be done on earth as it is in heaven?  Perhaps God will work through you to bring a taste of heaven into your earthly surroundings!  Finally, do you begin each day asking for the Holy Spirit to guide you through the day so that His will will be done?

Teach me to do your will, for you are my God. May your gracious Spirit lead me forward on a firm footing. Psalm 143:10 NLT

So far we’ve cover from the traditional Lord’s Prayer (from the Anglican Book of Common Prayer, 1662) –

Our Father, which art in heaven. Hallowed be Thy Name. Thy Kingdom Come

Next week we’ll cover –

Give us this day our daily bread.

In the future we’ll cover – And forgive us our trespasses, As we forgive them that trespass against us.  And lead us not into temptation,  But deliver us from evil.  For thine is the kingdom,

The power, and the glory,

For ever and ever.

Bit of Wisdom

No matter what happens, always be thankful, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:18 NLT
