CBMC Forums Focus: A weekly blog to enlighten, encourage and equip Christian business leaders to lead in business using Biblical Business Principles.
Biblical Business Principle
Last week we focused on the Lord’s Prayer – But deliver us from evil. How have you been delivered from evil? Do you have a story to tell of being delivered from evil that demonstrates God’s deliverance?
This week we will focus on the Lord’s Prayer – For thine is the kingdom. In your daily business life; do you see God’s Kingdom, or do you see the effects of the world, the flesh, and the devil? Which do you see most?
The purpose of Forums Focus is to enlighten, encourage and equip Christian business leaders to lead in business using Biblical Business Principles, not to be a doctrinal treatise. However, in researching Thine is the Kingdom, my conclusion is that the Kingdom of God is both the present spiritual kingdom in this world, and the future physical kingdom when Christ returns to this world.
How does the present spiritual kingdom relate to your business life?
Jesus replied (to Nicodemus), “I assure you, unless you are born again, you can never see the Kingdom of God.” John 3:3 NLT Are you seeing the kingdom of God?
His disciples came and asked him, “Why do you always tell stories when you talk to the people?” Then he explained to them, “You have been permitted to understand the secrets of the Kingdom of Heaven, but others have not. To those who are open to my teaching, more understanding will be given, and they will have an abundance of knowledge. But to those who are not listening, even what they have will be taken away from them. That is why I tell these stories, because people see what I do, but they don’t really see. They hear what I say, but they don’t really hear, and they don’t understand. This fulfills the prophecy of Isaiah, which says: ‘You will hear my words, but you will not understand; you will see what I do, but you will not perceive its meaning. For the hearts of these people are hardened, and their ears cannot hear, and they have closed their eyes — so their eyes cannot see, and their ears cannot hear, and their hearts cannot understand, and they cannot turn to me and let me heal them.’ But blessed are your eyes, because they see; and your ears, because they hear. I assure you, many prophets and godly people have longed to see and hear what you have seen and heard, but they could not.” Matthew 13:10-17 NLT This followed Jesus giving the parable of the sower. He then said –
“Now here is the explanation of the story I told about the farmer sowing grain: The seed that fell on the hard path represents those who hear the Good News about the Kingdom and don’t understand it. Then the evil one comes and snatches the seed away from their hearts. The rocky soil represents those who hear the message and receive it with joy. But like young plants in such soil, their roots don’t go very deep. At first they get along fine, but they wilt as soon as they have problems or are persecuted because they believe the word. The thorny ground represents those who hear and accept the Good News, but all too quickly the message is crowded out by the cares of this life and the lure of wealth, so no crop is produced. The good soil represents the hearts of those who truly accept God’s message and produce a huge harvest — thirty, sixty, or even a hundred times as much as had been planted.” Matthew 13:18-23 NLT As you pray “for thine is the kingdom”, thank God you’re in His present spiritual Kingdom. Then think about the people in your business life who are like Nicodemus and can’t yet see God’s present spiritual Kingdom and won’t experience God’s future physical Kingdom.
Is there any role in your business life more important than your role as an ambassador? For more info on being an ambassador for Christ click on http://www.cbmc.com.
We’ve cover from the traditional Lord’s Prayer (from the Anglican Book of Common Prayer, 1662) –
Our Father, which art in heaven.
Hallowed be Thy Name.
Thy Kingdom Come
Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses
As we forgive them that trespass against us
And lead us not into temptation
But deliver us from evil
Next week we’ll cover –
The power, and the glory,
For ever and ever.
Bit of Wisdom
For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. This is the wonderful message he has given us to tell others. We are Christ’s ambassadors, and God is using us to speak to you. We urge you, as though Christ himself were here pleading with you, “Be reconciled to God!” 2 Corinthians 5:19-20 NLT
