CBMC Forums Focus: A weekly blog to enlighten, encourage and equip Christian business leaders to lead in business using Biblical Business Principles.

Biblical Business Principle

Last time we focused on the Lord’s Prayer – For thine is the kingdom.  Which do you see most in your daily business life God’s kingdom or the effects of the world, the flesh, and the devil?

This week we will focus on the Lord’s Prayer – The Power.  Are you cognizant daily of (Thine is) the power?  Are your experiencing God’s power in your business life?

Yours, O LORD, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty. Everything in the heavens and on earth is yours, O LORD, and this is your kingdom. We adore you as the one who is over all things. Riches and honor come from you alone, for you rule over everything. Power and might are in your hand, and it is at your discretion that people are made great and given strength. O our God, we thank you and praise your glorious name! 1 Chronicles 29:11-13 NLT  Are these words of David reflective of your thoughts and words of praise?

How great is our Lord! His power is absolute! His understanding is beyond comprehension! Psalm 147:5 NLT  In this age of relativity do you believe and walk in faith that God’s power is absolute?

Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before God made anything at all and is supreme over all creation. Christ is the one through whom God created everything in heaven and earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see — kings, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities. Everything has been created through him and for him. He existed before everything else began, and he holds all creation together. Colossians 1:15-17 NLT

The LORD is my strength, my shield from every danger. I trust in him with all my heart. He helps me, and my heart is filled with joy. I burst out in songs of thanksgiving. Psalm 28:7 NLT  As we see God’s power working at work, the result is joy and thanksgiving.  How’s your joy?

But we know these things because God has revealed them to us by his Spirit, and his Spirit searches out everything and shows us even God’s deep secrets. No one can know what anyone else is really thinking except that person alone, and no one can know God’s thoughts except God’s own Spirit. And God has actually given us his Spirit (not the world’s spirit) so we can know the wonderful things God has freely given us. When we tell you this, we do not use words of human wisdom. We speak words given to us by the Spirit, using the Spirit’s words to explain spiritual truths. But people who aren’t Christians can’t understand these truths from God’s Spirit. It all sounds foolish to them because only those who have the Spirit can understand what the Spirit means. We who have the Spirit understand these things, but others can’t understand us at all. How could they? For, “Who can know what the Lord is thinking? Who can give him counsel?” But we can understand these things, for we have the mind of Christ. 1 Corinthians 2:10-16 NLT  God’s Holy Spirit living in us empowers us to see God’s power at work.

From the time the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky and all that God made. They can clearly see his invisible qualities — his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse whatsoever for not knowing God. Romans 1:20 NLT  Even people without the Holy Spirit can see the result of God’s power!

Are you seeing the results of God’s power in your business life?  If not as much as you would like, reread this and focus on the Scripture passages.

We’ve cover from the traditional Lord’s Prayer (from the Anglican Book of Common Prayer, 1662) –

Our Father, which art in heaven. Hallowed be Thy Name. Thy Kingdom Come

Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses

As we forgive them that trespass against us

And lead us not into temptation

But deliver us from evil

For thine is the kingdom

Next week we’ll cover – … and the glory,

For ever and ever.

Amen.

Bit of Wisdom

For by his great power he rules forever. He watches every movement of the nations; let no rebel rise in defiance. Interlude Let the whole world bless our God and sing aloud his praises. Psalm 66:7-8  NLT
