Presents: Bill Alexson, President SportsPower International

Leading Pro Basketball Players in Character

Bill will share his journey from his dream of playing in the NBA to his professional career as a NBA Chaplain and mentor

Bill Alexson had his sights on an NBA career but instead God’s path has led him to spread the Gospel around the world as founder and president of SportsPower International. Alexson played basketball through high school and college and played professionally for two years in Greece before injuring his ankle. “I knew then I was not good enough for the NBA, and I thought I was at my end, until I turned to the Lord,” he said. The next stop on his journey was Bible school where he refined his preaching skills.

He was recruited out of the blue to set up the NBA’s Player’s Chapel program for 23 teams to inspire and answer the deep needs of these players.  Bill went on to work with many players, coaches, and others connected with the NBA during his 22 year service as the Boston Celtics Team Chaplain.

He now takes NBA players across the globe AlexsonColumbiaplaying against local and National teams. Because of the powerful platform of these men, the SportsPower games receive free TV coverage to mi
llions. The residents view an exciting game and hear the inspirational stories of the players both current and retired. “It’s no better or worse than any other ministry, but it’s a unique one that can open up doors that no one else can”

With retired and current professional basketball players, Alexson puts on tournaments nationally and internationally. Basketball gets crowds – especially young people – out as they hear testimony from players and Alexson at halftime.

Alexson, his wife, Valerie, and son, Brandon, live in Baltimore.
